Best GPS tracker management platform
Pros
The ability to update firmwares and config using batch updates and having realtime information about update progress is great!
Cons
Migration from PULS is cumbersome. It should have been transparent to the user, you should have made it a drop-in replacement process.

We use this software on a daily bases ensuring operations run smoothly
Overall our experience is very good. It's rare that the software would go down and customer service reps are super helpful and informative.
Pros
GPS and route tracking are accurate at all times.
Cons
When it comes to geo-graphing/geo-fencing, there aren't very clear instructions on how to use those features and reasons for use/benefits.

CalAmp - There is no better product on the market for pure GPS Tracking
If you need efficient and reliable GPS, there is no other. The ability for custom scripting, while time consuming to master, gives you absolute control of your units and allows you to weigh power management vs live communicating, reboot frequency, messages sent, etc.
Pros
The ability of scripting and allowing you to control all aspects of the software from Sleeping to Tracking Intervals allows you to create a near perfect product.
Cons
With the ability of scripting comes complexity. There was a very large ramp up time of many months for us to learn everything. Even something as straightforward as communicating with the unit via Terminal took a long time to get the basics of (basically, you either have EVERYTHING correct in your setup with wires, ports, etc or you get no response back).

CalAmp has to work a lot to really become a reliable SaaS company
The company has to respect the needs from customers. The company currently has no room to listen to the voice of the customer, we have faced several issues related to quality of the solution and to make things worse, the process of handling OTA operations with the devices isnot reliable. Also, Crashboxx is a great solution but it does not provide primitive API functions that every SaaS product.
Pros
- Despite the fact the APIs do not provide real-time feedback for collision, they are able to provide a minimum level of information about collisions.- OTA Operations used to work great
Cons
- OTA operations with the devices are not reliable.- Crashboxx solution has no APIs to support basic SaaS operations (billing, activating, deactivating, real-time feedback)- Crashboxx solution takes up to 7 days to confirm a collision (which is absurd in a real-time situation)- It is not possible to use Crashboxx with other features from the platform (such as motionlog)

Calamp - PULS I believe is the best option!
I feel they are needing in some improvement, but are still the best option. In the end, no matter the cost, these device and this software (PULS) combination from Calamp are still number one in my opinion!
Pros
The PULS software allows us to control and monitor devices better than any other devices and it is critical for the best customer service across the board.
Cons
We really need, bulk scripting, a big fix on pg2 control and loading of those pg2 scripts. We need to have bulk loading and pulling scripts. The timer on CRC or 'sign script' needs to be reduced.

Great devices for powered tracking operations!
Pros
Great devices (TTU2830) for powered equipment that give GPS location and calculated equipment hours to our customers.
Cons
Nothing we really don't like except the CalAmp TTU2830 is a powered device with back-up battery. Not always applicable for every customer application.

Fleet Management - All in One Software Management Tool
Pros
I've used CalAmp Software - PULS, for now closed to 4 years, and throughout that time I can honestly say that they have made it easy for us to manage all Firmware/Builds/Version easily for all of our Hardware Products, all in an all-in-one software management tool!
Cons
The complexity to make 'bulk' changes to all devices/hardwares.

Software developed by somebody who is not in the industry
Support is lacking. Overall useability needs to be looked at to simplify user navigation in the website.
Pros
The new website has a clean new look. I feel that it is sometimes a maze to find what you are looking for.
Cons
The reports are flaky and don't match real world reporting. When running certain reports i need quarterly data. The reports alerts that i can only use 30 days at a time. When i schedule reports for end of the month, they sometimes come out, sometimes don't.GPS sometimes bounces from our area clear across the country completely throwing off the reports. There needs to be some sort of catch for erroneous GPS points.

I Want to Understand
For the most part it has been very helpful and allows us to see where all out drivers are and what they have completed at any time of the work day. The biggest problem is many times the GPS goes off line and we only get old information which can make it very difficult to see what's happening with our entire fleet.
Pros
GPS is the most impactful feature for our division.
Cons
Although we have many features on our software its difficult to understand all that's there and how to utilize it.

Good product with poor support
Vehicle tracking and remote data collection
Pros
The devices work well and seem to be robust. The PEG interface is good in that it allows some local processing, but limited in what you can do.
Cons
it would be good to be able to write custom local software on the device, to reduce the volume of data sent over the air. It appears that there is a trend to go along tha direction with thier products, but it is still limited to thier peg, or peg2 interface. The change from PULS to DM-CTC has not been good. The DM-CTC platform obviosly is still not fully developed and misses some of the basic functionality that PULS had. Customer support in australia is poor, with questions first going to a local distributor and then passed to a support center in the usa. responses can take days, and are often just left unanswered. Direct contact to calamp for support does reduce the not normaly provide better results.

Review of new CTC
Overall I think CTC is an improvement from PULS, but a lot of work needs to be done to make it as easy to use.
Pros
Overall the CTC is a better look and a more comprehensive feel than PULS, but needs work
Cons
jobs need to be assigned for everythingyou can't copy/paste a large amount of devices at once to configure/update firmware, you have to search manually for each devicei have to click "load more" to see simple facts on each device like phone numbers or ICCID numbers

Solid platform form an industry leader
Pros
You can trust the brand and they have a solid support staff that is always willing to help
Cons
It really isn't a Calamp issue necessarily but the lead time on units can be tough at times if you are caught off guard.
