We are been able to achieve a very successful HR and payroll experience with Heartland Payroll+. It provides us with all the right tools we ever need to streamline our HR operations from the initial stage of recruiting up to the very last one. It also has a very competent payroll tool that makes payroll processing such an easy and effective task for us.

Heartland Payroll+ has offered us an automated payroll processing function that help us to run payrolls precisely without any errors. It has made recruiting very simple by offering us a safe vault to assemble all candidates information. It provides us with in-depth reports that allows us to track our recruiting process from start to the end. Heartland Payroll+ has an incredible time tracking tool that keeps us always right on schedule.
Cons

A momentous software but can do better
I hope the challenges would be sorted out soon for a remarkable experience. It is a great tool.
Pros
It is smarter and easier to use. Has an advanced technology which simplifies work for the best. Most of the work can be done on the mobile app remotely.
Cons
Full of benefits. However, during peak hours, it is hard to process data due to loading issues. This becomes worse when you are using the mobile app.

Mistake riddled service
Poor response to mistakes made and still to this day the mistakes made and admitted to have not been corrected.
Pros
Nothing at all. Their service was forgetful and slow when they did respond to me bringing to their attention their mistakes with payroll. Email communications between myself and the company did not help resolve the matter.
Cons
Mistakes were not reversed even though many attempts were made on my behalf to communicate those mistakes. Their response to me took months when it should have takes days.

Perfect if you're looking to cut checks and nothing more.
My overall experience wasn't great because once I switched to another payroll service, I found out that there was a lot of things that is supposed to be done by your payroll provider on behalf of your business and failure to do these things could result in penalties and fines for your business. I was not aware of any of this while I was a customer of Heartland payroll and it was not being done for me.
Pros
What I liked most about this software was the inexpensive price.
Cons
What I liked least about Heartland Payroll was that nothing was electronic. I had to call in payroll over the phone each time.

Pros
It easily integrates with accounting software and automates data entry hence limiting on errors that would be made during manual data entry.
Cons
It's very easy to setup and technicians are readily to handle our technical problems.

Some if good and some is challenging
Good experience and helpful after we manage to setup everything to our needs.
Pros
It worked well with integration with our HRIS application and able to connect with auto-deposit payroll payment system to help automating most of the payment process. The system is important to reduce mistake that happen with manual payment process that happening before.
Cons
Need a better support from the developer support for technical difficulties that we had with the system.

Please read - I wish I had know
Please do not use Heartland. It is difficult enough being a small business owner, this company could bankrupt you if you cannot weather the storm. It is very sad that a a company like this is still in business. They are suppose to provide professional services and according to my accountant and the TWC they are not held liable for their gross incompetence
Pros
The sales people. They were good, they personally visited me and the would still answer my call even after they sold me on their product.
Cons
We had a terrible experience. After the sales process was done, and we were promised the World, everything was downhill. We have had to pay over $12k in taxes and insurance audits due to incorrect reports. We have spent over 200 man hours and counting to fix their errors. Our employees never received correct W2s. We have 30 employees and Heartland has cost our company in excess of $20,000 and were with them for less than 1 year.

Constant Tax Issues with months of waiting time
Horrible. Would not recommend to anyone. All tax issues I would attempt to handle on my own or be the middle man between heartland and the state to try and resolve. Better off doing it yourself.
Pros
The website worked alright for inputting hours. However frequently hours would be placed in the wrong job code.
Cons
Constant tax issues. Every quarter I would got noticed from the state saying my taxes were paid wrong. They don't check your amounts due for taxes. Surprise tax bills for several thousands frequently. Normally a 2 month response time for tax issues which make the following period also incorrect.

Great product for the price
Heartland was a nice group to work with when we were looking for a cheaper alternative for a HRIS company, we were referred by our insurance brokerage team and nothing but good things to say regarding the people who worked with Heartland.
Pros
What I liked most about Heartland Payroll was their push to work on the mobile app and making sure the employee has access to many of the features that Heartland payroll had to offer.
Cons
There are two different websites you needed access to in order to tackle the daily operations for Heartland while I was using it: One for Payroll and HR, and one for Onboarding and Time & Attendance. WHile that was becoming together on the mobile app towards the latter portion of our time with Heartland, there was no strides to do that for the websites.

The experience with Heartland Payroll has been so good and very helpful. It has made our HR tasks very simple and convenient. Also, it has helped us improve our payroll processing making it very fast and error-free.

Has easy to use payroll dashboard that help us have quick and accurate payroll processing. It gives us detailed payroll reports that allows us ensure everything is on the right side. It allows us to easily manage HR records that help make onboarding so efficient. It has very reliable support system with an always ready to assist support team.

We have not disliked anything about Heartland Payroll. It has been very consistent at offering us the best services.

It Was Ok
Overall we decided to end our servivce with Heartland when our contract was up. We were able to find several other payroll providers who charged less with many more features and benefits.
Pros
Heartland Payroll worked and did what it was intended to do. I was able to process payroll and pay employees on time.
Cons
My experience with customer service was not great. They were difficult to contact, and I always had to leave a message and hope they would call me back. Most of the time I would have to reach out several times to get something resolved. Additionally, as an admin, I had very little access to the system, and there were very few things that I could change or update without contacting customer service.

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY
Not good at all. Customer Service sucks. I ask for help on an issue at the beginning of
December and it is now the middle of January and the only emails the I got concerning my issue was emails the pass the buck to someone else.
Pros
Nothing. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
Cons
Everything this is hard to get through. And good luck getting anyone to help.

Heartland Payroll Upgrade
Until this recent upgrade I thought it was the easiest payroll product I ever used.
Pros
I used to love the ease of data entry. With the new upgrade, special payments take too much time as the data doesn't end up where I intend. I add an additional check and the payment ends up on the standard check.
Cons
Their latest upgrade is a disaster. I mastered how to do special checks. Worked for 2 months and then changed. The data doesn't always go into the fields where it belongs and I have to do many pre-runs to get it right.

Pros
Work very well with our HRIS system really make me happy. It is mostly because Heartland is easy to integrate and solved every issues that we had in managing payroll and payment. All the data is secure and has no issues.
