About Google Drive

Google Drive helps users store company data in one place. Users can access files from desktop and mobile devices and control how team members share these files. The platform provides a central admin panel, data-loss prevention and a vault for the drive to ensure compliance and file sharing between users. Google Drive offers team collaboration tools such as Docs, Sheets and Slides. Teams can create new documents and share them with members. They can also engage in real-time document editing and leave comments to update members of changes. It includes machine-learning technology to help users predict future needs. Google Drive provides features like a natural-language search and optical character recognition (OCR). Google Drive integrates with third-party applications including DocuSign for e-signatures, CloudLock for additional security layers and LucidCharts for mockups. Users can open different file types like PDFs and MPEG4s, and they can work on Microsoft Word files straight from the drive. Pricing is per month. Support is provided via online chat, email and the phone.

Great option for small business file management and for personal use!

I've been using Google Drive for many years for managing files for my small business as well as my personal files. I use it every single day for work, and enjoy how easy it is to stay organized, share files or folders with others, and limit who can view/edit/access those shared files and folders. I think it's overall very easy to use if you are at least minimally tech savvy.

Pros

From someone who is tech savvy, I like the ease of use from any device and capability to share files with several people on varying levels of engagement. It has been a great product and cost effective for my small business but I also use it for personal file management.

Cons

Some of my coworkers and constituents aren't as tech savvy and sometimes struggle figuring out how to use it on their phone.

Alternatives Considered

Slack and Basecamp

Reasons for Switching to Google Drive

It was more cost effective and easier to implement without a steep learning curve.

Your everyday tool for sync-work

Whether I need to do collaborative work with Draw.io for example, or if i have to do a GroceryShop list with checkboxes to check later in my phone, i use google drive for that. I can arrange my folders the way i want, even with files that don't own but are shared to me by creating shortcuts. If i'm ever at the computer, more times than not, i open Google Drive as well.

Pros

It's a platform that is always online, with very high quality tools and an overall very high quality aesthetic including it's functionality.
It can be used in almost all browsers.
You can have your files almost instantly available everywhere and synchronized

Cons

Probably doesn't work well in older computers.
All of it's tools are web based and there is no desktop application (aside from the one that syncs up your files in your computer)

Best Cloud storage for Collaboration and file sharing

Google drive has been an incredibly helpful tool in my day to day office work. I use it daily to store and share sheets, and documents. I have not found any other cloud storage service that is as safe and reliable as Google drive

Pros

How easy it is to collaborate with each other. I can share the file with anyone and access it anywhere, Whether on phone or laptop

Cons

Most of the things about Google drive is good, but still I would like if they can increase free storage space more than15 GB

The best free cloud based data storage available.

Probably the best file repository software you can get for free. I have been using it since it's inception and it has only gotten better.

Pros

Even on slower connections uploads are relatively fast with no data loss.

Cons

The lack of virus scanning on larger files.

Alternatives Considered

OneDrive

Reasons for Choosing Google Drive

More storage space for less cost. Easier access and ability to download when and where I needed to
