> PlanSwift is a cloud-based construction takeoff and estimating software designed to help commercial, industrial, institutional, residential and subcontractors manage material management, cost tracking and other construction operations. The platform's functionality extends across a wide range of disciplines within the construction industry, making it an essential tool for various trades such as concrete, drywall, electrical, flooring, framing, HVAC, landscaping, painting, plumbing and more. Whether it's estimating material quantities, creating detailed project plans, or generating accurate cost estimates, the solution offers a comprehensive solution that meets the diverse needs of the construction sector.

PlanSwift includes a visual point-and-click interface that allows users to drag and drop individual parts or assemblies directly onto a digitized blueprint to gather quantity takeoffs and begin the estimating process. Teams can measure linears, unit counts, square footage, pitches and angles and calculate the takeoffs automatically. The application lets users calculate digitized values, including labor and material costs, by clicking various points on the screen. The single click feature allows users to measure linear and square footage. The program also includes a MS Excel integration to send PlanSwift Takeoff quantities directly to your existing MS Excel estimating spreadsheets.

PlanSwift allows general contractors to manage projects of all sizes and adjust cost progections by editing product costs and bid more jobs to streamline the estimation process. Its concrete takeoff and estimating functionaloity lets users manage takeoff footings, walls and foundation measurements or utilize the pre-built assemblies to acurately identify material, lanpur and other costs. Contractors can utilize the electrical takeoff feature to measure lengths for cables, conduits and wiring, add cost of switches and receptacles and automatically calculate costs and material requirements.

PlanSwift enables HVAC constractors to trace linear takeoff for air conditioning supply lines, derive volume of rooms for cooling and heating and generate lists for HVAC assembly. Plumbers can maintain a count for fixtures and fittings and measure linear feet for drain and supply piping. The supervisors can also create and manage project requirement and cost spreadsheets and share them with external and internal stakeholders. The software is available on annual subscription plans and support is extended via phone, email, chat and other online measures.

## Reviews

### "Accurate takeoff tool with strong estimating capabilities but dated interface" — 5.0/5

> **Adella** | *20 April 2026* | Architecture & Planning | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10
>
> **Pros**: PlanSwift excels at digital takeoff, allowing quick and accurate measurements directly from plans. The estimating tools are flexible, making it easy to build cost estimates based on quantities. I found the drag-and-drop functionality and customization options useful for adapting to different project types. It significantly reduces manual calculation time compared to traditional methods.
>
> **Cons**: The interface is not very modern and can feel unintuitive at first, which creates a learning curve. Performance may slow down with larger or more complex project files. Integration with other construction management tools is somewhat limited, which can affect workflow efficiency for teams using multiple systems.
>
> Overall, PlanSwift is a reliable tool for takeoff and estimating, particularly for users who prioritize accuracy and control over estimates. After the initial learning curve, it becomes an efficient part of the workflow, though improvements in usability and integrations would enhance the experience further.

### "It's A Love/Hate Relationship" — 4.0/5

> **Trevor** | *1 April 2020* | Construction | Recommendation rating: 7.0/10
>
> **Pros**: It's extremely in-depth and you can do almost anything you can imagine. The tools to build parts and assemblies are extremely extensive and haven't found anything we can't do. Other than a handful of bids that we send out for, we estimate the entire home for each client. Every single nut, bolt, box of screws, rebar, rolls of house wrap, etc. There's nothing we can't do. The
>
> **Cons**: Terrible customer service\! I usually call and have to leave a message and someone might get back to me in 24-48 hours. They don't seem to know their software well either as we were able to figure out things that they said wasn't possible...

Way outdated: No 4K monitor support, very old looking interface, only available for Windows.

No built-in cloud syncing between computers. If there is a change in pricing, adding parts, building assemblies, etc. for a while we had to manually do this in each computer. We ended up figuring out how to utilize a cloud platform to sync up all changes to our parts and assemblies across computers and it now works now.

No built-in Job file sharing. Again, we set up a cloud system using Google Drive local sync and it works well. We just can't be in the same job at the same time or it might get errors.

There is no automatic association between a part in a parts list and the same part in an assembly. For instance, by default, if I update a price in the parts list it doesn't reflect that price update in any instance of the part used on an assembly. You have to use a $200 plugin that basically adds a search and replace function.

Price changes on parts are not reflected in current jobs unless you manually go in and change it. We found a workaround for this though. For all of our assemblies, we were able to link the "Cost Each" back to the original part's "Cost Each" through a file path. Just a pain.

I ran out of room to type so I must stop here..
>
> Like the title says, it's a love/hate relationship. Lots of really powerful features, but it's really outdated and lacking some modern cloud syncing features and others talked about in the Cons list.

### "Great application" — 4.0/5

> **Matt** | *9 February 2026* | Construction | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Plan swift is a quick and easy way to store plans, mark them up and distribute to the construction team and clients.
>
> **Cons**: Plan swift is very easy to use and has many features, but if you have a large team, sometimes that can get a little pricey.
>
> Planswift helps keep project documents organized. Mark-ups can be made on the spot and distributed accordingly. Good program overall.

### "Reliable, easy to use takeoff, but limited to flat PDF documents" — 3.0/5

> **Andrew** | *8 July 2025* | Civil Engineering | Recommendation rating: 7.0/10
>
> **Pros**: With minimal learning you can easily commence takeoff for length, count, areas etc. Easy to use, intuitive controls, and ability to total takeoff across pages makes this an essential tool for engineering takeoff
>
> **Cons**: Planswift has shortcomings in its ability to handle different document types.
Currently You can bring in pdf files directly, or import and have planswift convert them into tiffs. Unfortunately both methods are raster based so there is no intelligence for selecting lines, planes etc.
The plans are essentially just images, so you can't turn on/off layers in pdfs, you can't import design files directly and there is no 3d capability.
While planswift has a "one click" auto takeoff, I have never found it reliable and have always reverted to doing it manually
>
> I have been a planswift user for many years and find it essential to my work.
I only use it for basic takeoff, but know it can be used more extensively for estimating/budgeting etc also
It is much better than using takeoff in PDF software, but I'm confident there are better options out there that can utilise native design files and vector pdf, and have AI inbuilt

### "Planswift - From 1d to 3d" — 5.0/5

> **Aaron** | *4 March 2026* | Construction | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Once you get your assembly's set up, doing quantity takeoffs is super easy. The way they display to the filed team is super helpful as well.
>
> **Cons**: Not really a dislike but be prepared to spend a decent amount of time implementing the software since it is not a plug and play type set up. You will need to spend time with the training team learning how to use it.
>
> Overall, Planswift is powerful \& easy to use once you get the hang of it. Draw lines on a page \& get volumetric quantities of baserock, concrete, rebar \& asphalt...
