simple and fast, functions that go straight to the point when designing
Pros
I can make a newspaper page in just 10 minutes, because of the ease of handling the palette of styles and predesigned templates in a window, the QPS function for me is great for assigning press releases to journalists easily and quickly. equally the way to create the styles is quite easy
Cons
It is horrible that this program suddenly closes for no reason, both in mac and pc, I do not know if it is because it requires a lot of memory, because I also do not like it to be quite heavy, and when handling many jpeg files the interface becomes slow , so I'm forced to do it some time in several documents. The way I manage bitmaps does not please me very much.

QuarkXPress: An industry Pioneer, but loses the race when compared with Adobe InDesign
Overall, not unhappy but each of my project experiences left me wanting more ... design options, layout options, integration with other software I use.
Pros
It's a page layout powerhouse and does what it is intended to do. It's fairly user friendly and easy to learn the ins and outs.
Cons
Because Quark is a stand alone software, it loses any integration options with other programs that designers use on a daily basis. For this reason alone, it's difficult to rationalize using Quark instead of InDesign, which has so many crossovers with Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.

I love working with Quark and I make all kind of designs (texts, images, books, cards etc.)
Pros
QuarkXPress is a program that usually works very intuitively. It is clear and the number of options is increasing.
Cons

QuarkXPress
Quark is powerful and professional, ideal for print and digital publishing. It’s a solid choice if you want to avoid subscriptions, but it may require some learning if you're switching from Adobe.

Choose Quark
I love Quark. If you want ease of use, versatility, and a layout program that just makes sense, Quark is for you.
Pros
The ease of use. I have tried In design, Canva, and Affinity publisher and none beats out the power and ease of Quark.
Cons
I feel like Quark has tried to make itself more like In Design. Quark 6.0 was the best version and beats out all the others hands down for ease of use and versatility. I feel the new versions are less Quark and more In Design.

My favorite pogram
I have known QuarkXpress for many years. I've also tried programmes from competitors. But I've always come back to QuarkXpress because it's simply great to use and encourages me to work.
Pros
My favourite thing about QuarkXPress is how easy it is to use. No cluttered side menus.
A well-structured programme that is fun to work with. You quickly find your way around the programme.
Cons
A good question that is difficult to answer because the programme is so good. Perhaps the programme could start faster. But this could also be due to my computer.

The original and best.
Still on QXP 2016. And have done work the elegance of which I doubt I would have achieved in other apps.
Pros
I enjoy the unobtrusive of the interface, the multiple layouts that can be achieved in one file, sharing styles and assets across documents, and the extreme precision in handling type.
Cons

QuarkXPress is a Good tool for Print and Digital content designs.
I first used QuarkXPress on few occasions in my previous company and from my point of view it is by far a best tool for Page Layouts.
Pros
Its the original desktop publishing software for creative professionals and its very easy to convert documents into interactive, digital experiences with this software. QuarkXPress is a good tool for Print and Digital Layouts, like Newspapers, Magazines, Brochures, eBooks, HTML5, Android/iPhone etc.
Cons
Its slow sometimes and support isn't that great but otherwise software itself serves its purpose.

Desktop publishing With QuarkXpress
I use Quarkexpress in small projects because of its user-friendly features.
Pros
Ever since it was released in 1987 QuarkXPress has dominated the Desktop Publishing.
I use Quarkexpress because when its come to page layout it is the best one out there because of its simplicity.its text tools are very user-friendly and lets you get the job done very quickly and efficiently.
Also, QuarkXPress supports more printers than any other desktop publishing software.
Cons
There is not much not to like about QuarkXpress.
Maybe PDF exports could be easier in the future

Still number one in my opinion
Having used Quark since version 3, (that's early 90's on a IIx) I've grown up with it. Does pretty much everything I need it to do as a final platform for print. It's ease of use and the fact they haven't diddled around too much with its core functionality is a blessing. Never had any problems with getting work printed using Quark. Over the years I've used multiple platforms, individually and combined, in designing specifically for print. Have used Indesign. It's OK, but see no reason to change. Try to avoid subscription software these days. Now use Affinity Photo and Draw in place of Adobe stuff which quark works with without issue.
Pros
Does everything I need it to do in design for print.
Accurate, fast, reliable and a very powerful bit of kit and that's all that matters in my book.
Cons
Not many. The tables function could be a bit more friendly regarding basic editing.
Updates are a bit expensive for the frequency which they offer them.
I miss the little alien, they could bring that back, a little bit of stress relief I miss!

I use QuarkxPress for all my print marketing materials.
Pros
I really like the software ease of use and even with updates that core elements stay the same. I find it easy to create the layout I need without all the extra tools and setting found in some other software.
Cons
I do find the software slow to load and I do have frequent crashes. I also find it does not use all the fonts and font weights that my system has, that I know work within Photoshop for example.

Great product
Pros
QuarkXPress is a great tool to have. Our company uses it for page design and it was easy to learn and master. We also recently used it for a book design.
Cons
It will sometimes lock up and close out on its own, losing any unsaved changes. It can be very frustrating. It happens on several computers, so we're not sure if it is our server or the program causing the issue.

QuarkXPress
Overall QuarkXPress does what I need and does it well.
Pros
QuarkXPress is an easy to use interface with a variety of tools and options that enables the user to create well crafted designs for a wide variety of platforms. You have full control over elements of the design and can incorporate a plethora of different elements. With their conversion and simple importing you can work on a variety of filetypes and incorporate many elements into a piece.
Cons
Although the user interface is pretty intuitive and simple - it is very outdated. The design of the program doesn't hold up to the designs it can produce. This design of the program can be off putting and visually tiring/harsh. There's also the unfortunate fact that Adobe has more options and capabilities that QuarkXPress doesn't which leads me back to alternate programs.

Quark User
Designing calendars, flyers, newsletters and many more graphic publications is a breeze with Quark Express
Pros
User friendly!!! The software is like a desk and the many applications are similar to items on that desk. You can easily drag any item to the place you desire. Open boxes for pictures, text etc are so easy and functional. I love this software. Frequent updates which make the products even more so wonderful.
Cons
Need to upgrade my Apple computer as it is not compatible when the software is updated as frequent as it does. It becomes compatible with a new computer OS.

A great way to build pages for newspaper production
It's the best program for page production, bar none.
Pros
Quark is a great way to put together newspaper pages. It's easy to design award-winning, sharp pages, and I have won multiple industry awards using Quark. There are so many useful functions that assist the page builder, and it's a fast program once all the nuances are learned.
Cons
Very few cons, maybe the most being that it tends to crash occasionally. But sometimes it crashes more on different computers, so it may not be a total problem with the program.

The most powerful and reliable tool for layout.
With powerful, intuitive, and easy-to-use publishing features, QuarkXPress is the most reliable and solid layout tool to compose publications efficiently, while freeing me up to focus on creativity and design.
Pros
QuarkXPress is a highly refined and comprehensive layout and design tool that has all the features I need to compose magazines, posters, books and other publications. It has a full suite of advanced typography tools, a smart approach to page layout, powerful style sheets, graphics management and much more.
Cons

I fell in love with XP 1x in 1985!
Fabulous—for more years than I care to remember, only because it reminds me of how old I am (82 and counting)!
Pros
I've been using Quark XPress since version 1x on my second-generation Mac with 8KB, starting in 1985! *** Some years later, I tried Adobe In-Design, but immediately went back to using XP—and never left! *** In my former life, before retiring in 2004, I was editor and publisher of dozens of newsletters, calendars, and special publications, and XP never failed to provide me with wonderful finished products. These days, I use it mostly for writing and simple projects, but wouldn't dream of using anything other than XP.
Cons
I've been wracking my brain, and can't think of a thing! Oh, wait: When I bring up a new project it comes up full screen, so I need to take 2 seconds to adjust the screen size! Trust me, that's a miniscule price to pay for an amazing product!!!

Versatile Desktop Publishing Program
Overall, QuarkXPress is relatively easy to learn but does not offer the handholding of strictly user-oriented software. I've used Quark since the mid-90s when it was a DOS-based package, and we printed a 32-page monthly children's publication. Quark is a standard program for commercial use and has few competitors. I've used virtually every version since Quark's DOS days. I've published POD books up to 600 pages with Quark.
Pros
Easy to create a print book that looks as professional as the ones from major publishing houses.
Cons
When you do a File Save As, Quark continues to use the original file instead of switching to the new file you saved, as all other document processing software does. For example, assume you've created a "template" file that is the basic starting point of some common output. You do a File Save As to MyNewBook, but the focus remains on the Template. If you don't remember to open MyNewBook, your changes end up in the original Template file instead of MyNewBook. It's not a show-stopper, but it's annoying at times after realizing all of the changes are in the original starting file and not the one you created.

Quality Quark
Quark overall, 5 stars. Very pleased! Thank you Quark!
Pros
I've been using Quark for since it came out in the late 80's...and this iteration is by far the best yet. Very intuitive and almost a stand alone app with all the capabilities. I like the export function the best. I can create pdfs and pngs directly from the app! I don't have to crank up the old distiller anymore.
Cons
The only thing I do not like about Quark is that after exporting a pdf to my desktop for delivery to a client, the pdf icon does not render correctly in some cases. Mostly when there are gradients. Clients who see the icon believe that the real file is corrupt, which it is NOT. I have to explain to the client that the icon did not render correctly and that the file should be viewed after opening. I addressed this issue with Quark and they went deep and decided it may be an issue with the OS,so, it may not be a Quark issue at all.

quarkXpress: like an excellent dressage horse without escapades
clean, direct, clearly and logically arranged.
Pros
the typographic tools are precise and excellent [i can judge this as a professor of typography].
the workflows are straightforward and not overloaded with windows.
working with images is very fast: double-click on the image content and you're in photoshop. and also: copying image content and pasting it into other windows, so simple, so ingenious
the price-performance ratio is excellent.
the html interface is very good.

My preferred design tool for many years
It’s helped me have a career in design for many years, which is great, but see my notes above re: cost.
Pros
I’ve been using it since it first came out circa 1990. I greatly prefer its layout and functions compared to its competitors, which I find ‘clunky’ by comparison. It lets me design things quickly and easily.
Cons
Two things; it would be great to be able to ‘switch off’ all the unwanted functions; I’m a book cover designer and 85 percent of the functions aren’t needed for what I do. The other gripe is the price; years ago you could go for several years without needing to upgrade but now it’s an annual subscription, which is costly. Or, as I’ve used Quark for so long, it would be nice to get sizeable discounts in the future.

Ease of use. They have to be careful not to make it too complex. No traditional layout and web design mixed together in one program. We only want Quark for print. (Advertisements, flyers, magazines, house styles etc. etc.)
Cons
The high annual prices compared to comparable programs.

Quark - It has everything, why would you use anything else ??
I have been a Quark user since 1993. I started on Quark 3 and have gone all the way to Quark 2025. Absolutely brilliant software for typesetting and design. At present I typeset a lot of books (novels etc) Quark is very efficient and user friendly for this, and all other forms of typesetting.
Pros
I love the layout with the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Everything you need is right there, just a click away.
Cons
It seems Quark is unhappy selecting and changing type over more than 1 spread, it often stops responding.

Easy to Use
I've used Quark Express for over 20 years. Lots of great upgrades and very easy to use.
Pros
Easy to use and extremely user friendly. Lots of great features and it only continues to get better!
Cons
You already fixed what I didn't like about it. Where it would automatically grab the latest graphic/photo file and place it in the layout.

Quark: Easy
Short time to learn; use of daily. Handy for everything from correspondence to layout projects. Used to project lettering for my wife's sewing projects.
Pros
Simple to use. Commands easy to memorize.
Cons
Spell check/dictionary is not as effective as the one in Ready, Set, Go!

Well done Quark
We've used Quark for over ten years and I'm quite pleased with it.
Pros
Quark is easy to use after a brief learning period, and I'm able to create some great looking pages without having a ton of graphics experience.
Cons
I've never been able to make the tables feature work, and end up building those manually.
Response from Quark Software
Thanks for your review Roy, great to see that QuarkXPress has helped you with your graphics experience.
