A great cloud file storage tool
We use OneDrive as part of our Microsoft 365 subscription and integrate it with Microsoft’s Power Platform. It is a workhorse in our org. We still do a fair bit of document generation, as most people do I’m sure; paperless doesn’t mean the docs go away! 😁 That being the case, we use OneDrive to house a good number of files. It has come a long way and, while it isn’t perfect, it is a fantastic tool. Also, it plays nice with file backup tools. We backup everything to a local server daily and this was easy to do and just works.
Pros
Super easy to use and integrate across Microsoft products. Managing access is easy for individuals and organizations. It also has some nice options to limit what is stored locally, which is awesome for conserving drive space but has issues if the user isn’t always online. Thankfully, an option exists to keep everything on device, so this is easy to get around if needed. And it plays nice with most mobile devices, so you can always get to what you need.
Cons
It can be unclear to users how to do things or why issues occur. It is helpful to have an expert available for user issues. Another issue is how MS has removed the ability to turn off file collaboration in some “versions” of OneDrive (the version is actually the same but certain devices get different versions of that version. It is so stupid in my opinion.). Functionally, this means that saving files using VBA and dynamically generating the name can have issues when offline. There are workarounds, but the “always online” stance from MS isn’t great for employees in the field.

Better File Organization
The experience with Onedrive was relatively good. I like many things about it and it's familiar.
Pros
Onedrive is pre-installed on some devices and with an existing Microsoft account there is no need to do anything other than sign in. Onedrive is secure and allows me to restrict access as needed.
The best feature in my opinion is file organization. It's a practical and logical system. I can pull up any file I need almost instantly.
Onedrive is part of a larger group of software that can be even more helpful as a whole. OneNote, for example. Office is another that I found helpful of course. Help is relatively easy to find. The price and alloted storage are good if you've bundled with Office/365.
Cons
Large files and sharing can be troublesome due to limited options. Synchronization has limited options as well. I've had a problem with duplicate files.
I question if Onedrive is the best option for business accounts.

I Won't Give Up On It
I still occasionally use One Drive. At some point, I need to watch some tutorials to get more familiar with the tool.
Pros
I initially liked it because it was part of the Microsoft Suite of tools
Cons
For some reason, I had problems using the tool when it came to saving my documents. Quite probably user error.

OneDrive has come from behind in the cloud storage race
Storing files to the cloud with OneDrive and sharing and syncing data across devices has become simple and seamless across the devices I have it installed on.
Pros
1TB of OneDrive storage is included with my Microsoft 365 supscription.
Cons
It wasn't as good as Dropbox at first but it got better. It just took it some time to get better.
Reasons for Choosing OneDrive
I was using the free version of Dropbox and ran out of storage and once I saw that OneDrive had overcome its drawbacks and had become usable I chose to migrate a large amount of data I needed to store in the cloud into it.Reasons for Switching to OneDrive
I chose it because it was included in my Microsoft 365 subscription and it became a usable product after it overcame its drawbacks.- Industry: E-Learning

A Powerful Storage Resource
I have been storing my files with OneDrive for over 10 years and have never lost a file or folder. When I want to delete or download a file or folder it's easy to do so. Also it's easy to share files with others who I have on my shared network. I really like that I can easily upload and download files I use weekly to a OneDrive folder on my computer hardrive rather than storing them on OneDrive online.
Pros
It's a secure means I depend upon to save all of my website, business and personal files.
Cons
It doesn't always work the same throughout every browser. I have a problem getting into my saved folders at times when using Microsoft edge. Since I normally use Google Chrome, I don't see this as a problem for me.
