All users are at high risk of the supplier discontinuing their product and blocking the software from accessing their activation server which instantly stops it from being able to be used. > > My customer starting using Transaction Importer in 2010. Over the years they had to purchase a couple of upgrades because they changed computers (activating and licensing has always been tough). My customer uses the software twice a year to import data to QuickBooks. In late November 2023 they received a message saying their version would be discontinued at the end of the year (approx. 6 weeks away) and they could upgrade for free to the new version. The email was vague and never stated that the software would stop working and they thought it would be like when Microsoft discontinues a Windows version; it can still be used, but no support or updates will be provided. Then when they go to use the software in Feb 2024, it can't access the activation server. They have been shut down. So the perpetual license they purchased no longer works. I contacted support on behalf of my customer and requested that they honor the original free upgrade offer. They said they couldn't. I am extremely disappointed as the original email was sent in late November 2023 and by the end of January 2024 the old version was killed off, unable to use. As my customer only uses the software twice a year, they were caught out. Admittingly my customer should have paid more attention to the email, but the big disappointment here is the fact the old software was killed off so quickly with poor communication from Rightworks, and now my customer now has to buy it again. It was easy to install and set up. Sometimes this will occur multiple times within a day, sometimes it only happens every few days. When I reported this to TPI, I was told that it originally occurred due to a virus that hit their system but they had discovered the cause and it was being fixed. Hence with TPI, I am able to close the books on time and minimize errors with peace of mind. In 2015, when an upgrade was required for QuickBooks; 7 years of confidential partial data had to be moved from the AP to the Employees Section; Needed to use the Pro Exporter, then the deleter, then the Importer. Learnt of TPI then, and the project was successful; am very grateful to TPI ever since. At times, when I do run into problems while importing/exporting it's ALWAYS my error; usually due to a careless non-conformity in the templates etc; once the fields match, TPI is spot on in importing the data.
