About Google Maps

Google Maps is a cloud-based GIS software that allows businesses to create and manage maps, in addition to providing navigation services. It is used by businesses of all kinds, from restaurants to construction companies. Google Maps allows organization to add markers that appear on their map, as well as pop-up balloons containing information about the marker's location. Users can also customize the appearance of these markers, so they match the brand or logo. Businesses can create routes between multiple locations on their map with Google Maps. This feature helps them plan how they will get from one place to another and provides information about how long it will take to get there.

Google Maps review

I have been using Google Maps for navigation for a very long time. It is estimated to be more than 10 years. I have Google maps downloaded directly into the application of my mobile and I use it every time I go to places I have not been to before. The navigation is accurate and provides a large number of options that I can use. And it's all free.

Pros

It's freeEasy to use even for beginnersPossibility to choose a route on foot, by car or by public transportMultilingual version of the applicationReviews of companiesAccurate navigation and calculation of the best routes

Cons

So far I haven't found anything that bothers me about this application.

Google Maps Daily!

Literally a lifesaver and I use it every single day!

Pros

Google Maps is so user friendly! The app remembers your frequently gone to places and reroutes quickly when needed.

Cons

Some road names are pronounced or spelled wrong, but that doesn’t keep you from getting there you need to go.

Bugs on Google Maps

Frustrating to the extent that I had to have another app or two to be sure I got to my destination in good time.

Pros

Google maps is everywhere online, so it is readily accessible

Cons

Several features on this app require revisiting by your Engineering Team at Google:
1) This app often sends the user to a street address adjacent to the destination street e.g. if your destination address was #2 Google street, it's more likely to send you to #2 Sesame Street which is adjacent to Google Street. I have encountered this bug on many occasions in central London.
2) Usually google maps shows red colours to indicate heavy traffic ahead. However, this is not always the case because, on some narrow streets where cars are parked on both sides of the street, this app would recognize the parked cars as part of the traffic jam. This is misleading to drivers.
3) The app also has a feature that enables the map to rotate in any direction very often in the course of a trip. For a driver with no local knowledge of the route, it causes momentary loss of direction of travel and confusion. The app should not oscillate when in use.
4) Google map applies what I would call avoidance trips. It quite often takes longer routes with or without traffic jam. This can be quite annoying especially if a driver had local knowledge of the route.
5) The seems to be very bad at connecting to major highways often sending drivers to a CLOSE or what you might call cul de sac or dead-end street.

Google Maps Contractor Locations

Overall I have found Google Maps to be very help with efficiency of workflow here at Sounded Educational Therapy. I highly recommend using it if you are working with tracking mileage and area coverage.

Pros

I love the amount of colors and icons to choose from. I also love the ability to Add layers. It's also really handy to be able to see specific data for each marker. I can even add pictures! The 'Directions to here' feature is very good when creating mileage maps for billing.

Cons

I haven't found a way to share the Google Sheet used for the data so that multiple team members can update the sheet and make changes to the map in real time.
