We needed a new video hosting tool at the university because our previous tool (Techsmith Knowmia) was going away permanently. We loved Knowmia and wish we could have kept it, but I digress. Panopto was the best tool available after piloting and testing several others. The training and support that Panopto provides enterprise customers are really good. We got personalized training sessions along with weekly webinars. We still get weekly support if needed. The auto-captioning function is also really helpful and quite good at captioning correctly on its own. > > **Cons**: Panopto editing and recording are sub-par. The user interface is beyond confusing\! I would rather use a different tool to record/screen-share videos than mess with Panopto. Editing is just about useless using Panopto. The ability to share and collaborate on videos is confusing. Many companies offer a completely free trial period. It would be nice to check it out for free. > > The auto-scheduling and auto-publishing of videos to specific Canvas courses is extremely valuable.
