> Azure Files is a file-sharing software designed to help businesses create and manage network file shares in the cloud. The platform enables managers to mount Azure Files shares on the cloud or on-premises to cache and access data on Windows Servers.

Administrators can shift file shares and existing servers to the cloud using Azure File Sync and storage migration service. Azure Files offers support for multiple protocols, which allows teams to sort data from different sources. Additionally, supervisors can use network file system (NFS) or server message block (SMB) file protocols to migrate data between containers on a unified interface.

> **Pros**: azure files integration with azure adds and on prem AD helped to aplly NTFS permission

> **Cons**: inability to apply file/folder level permission using azure AD \& its requirement to have port 445 opened to map nw drive
