Microsoft Excel has so many uses!

I used to be a project manager and used it for everything! Now I am in billing and payroll and still use it for everything! Our payroll app does not provide the reporting my bosses need, so I transfer the data to excel and send them what they need. I love excel!

Pros

I use excel all the time, I balance our books, track employees, pull reports from other apps we use and put them into excel and sort in a way that is important to the owners. I also use excel to do our billing and create our invoices. I know there are other apps that can do this, but I am comfortable with excel and it is working for our company. I highly recomend Excel! There is always more to learn with this software as it can do so much!

Cons

There is a lot more to this than what I use is for. I wish I had time to learn more about it!

Excel is a very productive tool to use for calculating large amounts of data.

Overall, I love using Excel for completing large amounts of calculations quickly. I use it for comparing lists of information as well, to compare if two columns are the same or not. The excels can be edited also, which I like, since that helps me organize my data.

Pros

I use this Microsoft product the most during work hours. This is due to the many calculations I need to do for tasks. I also use it to compare lists by using different formulas from online. This product is a very convenient tool for more efficiency and saves a lot of time.

Cons

I don't like when I copy and paste data from another website, it pastes incorrectly at times due to the formatting. However, I fix the pasted data by adjusting the information manually. And its also not much of an issue since there are different ways to paste the information and it can be changes as needed.

Powerful if you will learn it.

It is an excellent tool, more powerful and versatile than other programs like Google Sheets, you just need to take the time to learn it and keep learning about it.

Pros

It makes so calculations and processes easier, has an incredible versatility to it and powerful tools that allow it to handle spreadsheet tasks and formatting.

Cons

It’s just sometimes hard to know what formula to use when and how to make it work the way you want. It’s so big and versatile it can take a while to really know how to handle it.

Excel to the rescue!

Overall, we can't recommend it enough. Dealing with numbers every hour of every day, Excel is the backbone of the company and we couldn't be happier with it.

Pros

Microsoft Excel is such a functional tool that meets a multitude of needs within our coop. From graphs/visual presentations regarding rates to easily formatting and summarizing loads of accounting data, the coop could not function without it.

Cons

There are so many different tools, but if you don't know how to use them, it doesn't do you a lot of good. It would be great if eventually there were to be an AI addition that can scan your data and suggest methods to fix, organize or update your data and how to do it in the most efficient manner.

It's no wonder they named it Excel, because that's exactly what it does

Overall my experience with Excel has been a positive one. My understanding of how to utilize certain functions and formulas has saved me time, increased my productivity, and advanced my professional career.

Pros

What I like most about Excel is that it is an extremely versatile software and is useful for any skill level. Those with limited experience will find value in the ability to make sort-able lists or to store numerical values that they can do simple equations on.

Beyond Excel's most basic functions - the sky is the limit. There are so many efficiencies that Excel can help to facilitate, and the functions that can utilized are more plentiful than one can imagine. Users can write "formulas" that will take data from other cells and manipulate that data into something more useful. You can turn your data set into a chart so you can easily visualize the information. You can use the PivotTable function to quickly take a data set and create a table of information where you can easily change the variable you want to analyze. You can instruct an Excel file to pull data from an online source to automatically keep your data set current. You can even write a type of program within the Excel software called a macro. A macro can do all sorts of things but is primarily utilized to automate step by step tasks that are necessary to complete on a recurring basis. A macro is essentially a way to let the software do the boring repetitive work for you.

If you have a set of data and there is something you want to do with it there IS a way to do that in Excel. You might not know how to create the formula on your own, and you may not even imagine that a formula could possibly accomplish what you are wanting to do, but there is. You may have to combine a could of steps to get the result you want, but if you can see the value in doing more work in the present for less work in the future then spending some time perfecting things will save you so much time going forward.

If you encounter a problem and you don't know where to start or what the correct formula is - just use a search engine and type your question in and hit search. There are an abundance of video tutorials and message board postings from other users who have already solved the problem you are trying to figure out.

Cons

My qualms with Excel are mostly superficial in nature. Sometimes changing the axis value on a chart can be confusing. If you have numbers entered into a cells that is a cell for a date or text it will display differently than you want so you have to go and adjust it. Importing data from a source that isn't designed to import to Excel is very hit or miss. However, none of the Cons even begin to sway me away from the Pros

Comprehensive review of Ms Excel and it's utter usefulness.

It is highly useful for managing, analyzing, and visualizing data through its extensive array of built-in functions, formulas, and charting tools.

Pros

It is a versatile tool widely used across various industries for tasks ranging from data entry and budgeting to complex financial modeling and statistical analysis. Its intuitive interface, with a familiar grid of rows and columns, makes it accessible to both beginners and advanced users. Excel's advanced analytical tools- such as PivotTables, Power query and robust charting capabilities, allow for comprehensive data analysis and visualization.
It has vast set of built-in formulas and functions for mathematical, statistical, financial, and logical operations, enhancing productivity and accuracy. Users can automate repetitive tasks using Macros and VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), saving time and reducing errors. Data management features, including sorting, filtering, and data validation, enable efficient handling of large data. It's versatility, user-friendly interface, advanced tools, and strong community support make it an essential application for personal and professional use.

Cons

It can become cumbersome with large datasets, leading to slow performance and crashes.Security is a concern, as files can be easily accessed or altered without proper protection. Excel’s steep learning curve for advanced features requires significant training. It’s not ideal for creating complex or visually appealing reports compared to specialized software. Reliance on manual data entry increases the risk of human error, potentially resulting in significant inaccuracies in critical business applications.

I wish everyone loved Excel as much as I do

Pros

The Windows desktop version of Excel is easily the best and most powerful spreadsheet software ever created. I am not a big fan of the online version, and the Mac version is a little goofy.

Cons

Just the learning curve. I love learning new things in Excel and there is no end to what you can learn, and Google is a great tool to quickly find out how to accomplish your idea. But most users can only do basic things in Excel and it is hard to do much advanced spreadsheet work in a collaborative environment if others are not fluent.

Easy, beginner friendly and powerful

It is beginner-friendly. This tool would be the first step in getting familiar with data analysis. But it can't do powerful complex processing but works well for daily tasks and small datasets.

Pros

Its interface is one of the best. It is not very overwhelming, I have been using this since I was in school and even back then I had no issue using it. It's recent Python integration has been good so far. The best part is that it automatically suggests to me the best graphs, charts, and pivot tables for data analytics and past saved formats. It really is a great beginner tool and a one-stop solution. It has become a tool I go to for most of the things.

Cons

It really lags and even freezes in cases of large datasets. Even with VBA, it still needs improvement. It is a little bit basic when you compare it to other data visualization tools.

Excel also has so many cool shortcuts that can save you quite a bit of time and allow multitasking. It takes productivity to a whole new level. I also love the graphs. There are so many options for creating graphs and visualizing data that come handy during presentations.

Pros

My favorite feature of Excel is the beautiful graphs and data visualization tools. You can create graphs really fast with correct data entry.

Cons

There is a learning curve to master working with Excel. I like to learn new features and do different things on its workspace. I wish Excel provided their own tutorial.

Microsoft excel, the super software.

I would say I fell in love with Microsoft and very thankful that this kind of software exist. I believe all organization related to industry I'm working which is BPO/Contact Center are using this software nowadays.

Pros

Very functional to any kinds of task we have such as tracking purposes, making calculator for complicated table sheet, data analysis, and organize almost all kinds of data and information.

Cons

I think learning formula is just too difficult but that's all. Once you learned complicated formula, you have the edge compare to your peers.

The experience is great. A good software that is capable of heavy use day to day.

Pros

I like the unlimited number of options it has, from entering equations to sorting data to calculating huge amounts of data.

Cons

It is not the easiest software to use. Most of the time when I try a new feature, I have to go watch a YouTube video on how to do it and how it works.

Microsoft Excel is an essential tool in my work toolbox

I've been using Excel for 35 years and have found it an essential tool. It isn't just for tracking numbers. It makes your data more useable.

Pros

Excel has powerful features. For beginners, the basic features are easy to learn. For people with more advanced needs, the power of Excel makes life a lot easier.

Cons

I use the 365 version and I wish that the online and desktop versions were more similar.

Easy to use, lots of features to make detailed Quality management Systems and easy to...

Really enjoy using the product and always my go to when working with QMS's or any data. Easy to filter and analyse using Excel. Also used by so many staff that collaboration is simple.

Pros

So easy to use and so many functions. Ability to create really simple spreadsheets, but also to add features and functions to develop full Quality Management Systems. Easy to find support to develop knowledge on Excel. Easy to share documents and collaborate.

Cons

Lots of features which could be overwhelming, and with lots of small buttons, there isn't always a 'name' on the button, so sometimes needing to google or search the functions.

Microsoft Excel Review

Overall it is a very positive experience

Pros

The functionality is strong, i chose it of numbers in the mac environment and in the PC work environment is is really the best choice for workbooks. It also works seemlessly (mostly) in the full office suite so moving between it, PPT and Word for reporting and presentations allows me to keep my excel work product in tact with one point of review and adjustment when required

Cons

it can crash in large formula design i have lost work previously when cells with large functions just stop working - if it gets to complex the file sizes get overwhelming, which can make multi workbook analysis problematic

Microsoft Excel gives me a professional rep

It’s an excellent software, for budgets as well as tracking various grant applications. And I can access it at anytime - which is enormously helpful too.

Pros

I really do like creating Excel spread sheets. I love how it keeps me organized. I also appreciate being able to add rows or columns as needed at anytime. This has allowed my listing of various grant applications and all the pertinent information updated.

Cons

I disliked how intimidating it seemed at first. All these little boxes that I sometimes to learn how to accurately fill. But I got over that quickly, and now can’t imagine doing my work without it.

Overall Excel is my preferred spreadsheet system, I use this platform almost daily for work and personal agendas.

Pros

The universal adoption of excel makes this my preferred method of sharing structuring information and managing logistics. I love the collaboration aspects and ease of adoption.

Cons

I think that when working with larger data sets in a data analysis context this is an inferior product to other offerings. Additionally, the differences between Macbook excel and windows is absurd and adds to user confusion. I highly wish that excel has universal shortcuts and additional extensions for Mac Excel.

My Honest Review-Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a great tool overall. It has been a great tool to organize information in a work environment. The icons at the top of the excel files make it easy to create and edit information.

Pros

Using Microsoft Excel, makes it easy to organize things for my work environment. It is easy to save and find those items that are readily used at the top of the spreadsheet for everyday usage.

Cons

There are templates but I don't feel the templates have enough choices. For instance, I was looking for a calendar that had weekly dates and daily times that I could customize for daily 24-hour periods but there was none. If it was there in the choices, I really could not find it, and I ended up using different software in order to create the schedule I needed. I wanted to create my own calendar but could not. Anytime I want to try to create something new in excel, it becomes a challenge as a beginner user. The help function is at times not user friendly for beginners. I usually would have to ask a coworker for assistance or go through multiple YouTube feeds to get an understanding of tasks I want to learn quickly. In the case of the calendar, the help function seemed to only refer me to templates based on the drop-down choices.

Cons

It’s not a great option if you have a lot of data, as it may experience performance issues. You really need a good-specs team to ensure it works well

Microsoft Excel - Review

Pros

I appreciate Microsoft Excel for its powerful data analysis and visualization capabilities. The ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables, and dynamic charts makes it an essential tool for managing and interpreting large datasets. Excel's versatility in handling diverse tasks—from simple calculations to advanced financial modeling—combined with its extensive range of functions, makes it incredibly valuable for both personal and professional use.

Cons

What I like least about Microsoft Excel is how tricky it can be to learn the advanced features. Basic stuff is pretty straightforward, but when you get into complex formulas and macros, it can get pretty confusing. Also, working with huge datasets can sometimes make Excel lag or even crash. And collaborating with others isn't always smooth, especially when multiple people try to edit the same spreadsheet at once.

Cons

I don't like how it lags with large amounts of data. Using the power query feature can slow the process down quite a bit. Excel does require a bit of training to know how to use it properly.
