The things i really like about nakivo is the ease of deployment, literally in Minutes and the reliability of VM backups. Also the ability to recover even files from backups give us the granularity we need. In addition in the latest version nakivo introduced indexing in recovery which makes it even easier to browse all files in your backup. Moreover, nakivo has a lot of deployment option and you can deploy it as a NAS appliance, VM, physical machine. Finally in a single pane of glass you have all the information you need which is very good for users that are not administrators and also the support team of nakivo is exceptional at problem solving

Cons

The cons in nakivo is firstly the 365 backup is done only on premises and it takes a lot of time to finish if you have under 1Gbit fiber connection. It should have the ability to be done entirely on cloud without having to store the backups on prem. And the other thing is the recovery process as well as the backup verification take a lot of time to complete. Finally the monitoring system it provides doesnt worth it really as there are much better monitoring solutions available.

Pros

We use Nakivo to back up our VPS servers and NAS devices. The UI and features are quite satisfactory with several expansion possibilities. We liked the new MSP feature where you can give specific access to users for specific machines.

Cons

There are features that we would like to be integrated such as the ability to exclude directories, the creation of an image for bare metal restore as well as the creation of Plesk integration to use Nakivo as a Plesk backup tool.

Any update is pain. There is huge chance that software update wont end well and you have to contact support to help you with remediation. Support is also not best i saw out there.

Ease of integration, interface and job setup. Backup copy jobs were very simple to setup and take the options from the backup job. Customer support has been great when I did have a question. My account manager has been very attentive.

Self-hosted, all necessary parts included, no subscriptions, flexible data retention and storage system, what's not to like?

Hyper-V automatic restoration will need some polishing. With Vmware throwing the clients under the bus, that is a necessary and hopefully to be addressed soon part.

What I particularly like is how easy it is to use, both for scheduling backups and for restoring files or VMs.
Another point is the great responsiveness and friendliness of the staff in the event of problems.

Cons

One negative point is the choice of version and the change of options over time.
The features of the versions have changed over time, but on the other hand, the support service finds appropriate solutions.
Like other programmes, you often have to upgrade to the next version for a single feature.

the fact i could install it directly on a storage appliance and set it up in 20 minutes.

The availability of friendly and helpful support staff. Along with the versatility of the software in virtual and "bare-metal" environments, what gives me the most peace of mind is that I know I can always rely on a support team to help me when there are problems I cannot solve just by consulting the help pages.

Cons

Sometimes the documentation is not very clear to me - but again, support was always ready to step in and help when I couldn't make sense of the knowledge base. One addition I would like to see is to be able to encrypt data before it reaches a public cloud repository. This is unfortunately only possible in a few situations, and generic object storage is not among them.

Pros

Very easy to set up. Is capable of performing backups on standalone ESXi servers. Most cannot. Very affordable solution.

Cons

So far I haven't found any cons with it. It may not be as robust as Veeam with some features, but it does everything we need it to at a literal fraction of the cost.

The product was very easy to install and setup. It is good that they have so many options for storage and install operating systems. You can even deploy on some NAS systems.

Cons

There is no facility to natively encrypt backups to USB storage or a cloud repository. You need to have an offsite transporter offsite connected to the repository.
So you cannot store encrypted backups directly into Amazon S3 storage or Wasabi etc. You need to have a transporter running in the cloud location connected to the storage for encryption to work.
Quite a big oversight when all offsite backups should be encrypted.

Easy to backup and restore VM's and you can also store your backups on various media such as NAS, USB, AWS (3-2-1) and also enables you to run your OWN backups of your OFFICE 365 mailboxes and One Drive data.

The product is stable and seldom needs to be supported by the vendor but they MAKE you pay for support on ALL licenses (in retrospect) as soon as you want to buy more licenses! I went a whole year without support as I was more than confident of the product, only to be told that I have to back-date support if I want any more licenses! Rather irritating given the stability of the product!!

The Nakivo Sales and Engineering teams were excellent to work with. Patient, answered all of our questions and continued to provide support, extended test licenses, throughout our process. Never once were they pushing for a sale - just helping us explore our needs.

The service itself was quite intuitive and had all of the features were were looking for. Our differentiating factor, was a feature set that was outside the scope of the back up solution.

Cons

The only thing that came up in testing, was direct support for tape libraries - but we are a bit of a special case when it comes to that. This was not a direct impact to our decision.

Nakivo is a very user-friendly backup solution. Installation is no problem for a reasonably trained system administrator. The use is more or less self-explanatory, but of course there is also a very good manual and an equally good knowledge base that leaves nothing to be desired. The support, which I have only had to use once in five years, is also very competent.

It is running under linux, therefore you can deploy it really fast. The Director and Transporter paradigm makes it convinient to set up in different environments, from air gapped clusters, to edge servers and more.
