# FEM-Design

Canonical: https://www.softwareadvice.com.au/software/470717/FEM-Design

> FEM-Design is finite element analysis and 3D design software for load-bearing structures in concrete, steel, timber and foundations, built to Eurocode with national annex support.

The interface is based on familiar CAD conventions, so model creation and editing don't require learning a separate way of working. This makes it suited to engineers moving from 2D design tools who need to verify or design more complex structures, global stability, combined material types, or cases where a 2D workflow no longer covers the analysis needed.

FEM-Design covers single-element design through to full building and global stability analysis in one model, reducing the need to move data between separate tools for different checks.

FEM-Design fits engineering firms working across multiple material types or project scales that need one analysis environment rather than several disconnected point solutions.

## About the vendor

- **Company**: StruSoft
- **Founded**: 2002

## Commercial Context

- **Pricing model**: Per Feature (Free Trial)
- **Pricing Details**: Licensing runs on a subscription model, so you get FEM-Design plus updates and full support included for the term of the licence, rather than a one-off purchase.

Subscriptions can be set to auto-renew, or run for a fixed period with no automatic renewal, similar to the old rental-style licences.

Cloud licences can be shared between users, similar to the old network licence setup — useful if not everyone needs access at the same time. Standalone licences are also available for single users.

Cost depends on the modules you need (e.g. concrete, steel, timber, foundation design) and the number of users or shared seats, so it varies by team size and scope. You only pay for the modules relevant to your workflow.

Contact StruSoft for a quote based on your team's requirements.
- **Target Audience**: Self Employed, 2–10, 11–50, 51–200, 201–500, 501–1,000, 1,001–5,000, 5,001–10,000, 10,000+
- **Deployment & Platforms**: Windows (Desktop), Windows (On-Premise)
- **Supported Languages**: Dutch, English, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Polish
- **Available Countries**: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Guernsey and 32 more

## Reviews

### "Good integration, bad user experience" — 3.0/5

> **Verified Reviewer** | *16 December 2022* | Higher Education | Recommendation rating: 6.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Covers a range of materials and construction types including each country's legislation. Good integration with BIM and API support
>
> **Cons**: Difficult to use and non-intuitive design commands. Bad snap tools design makes the design process time consuming.

### "The software that kills you from the inside" — 2.0/5

> **Dren** | *8 September 2020* | Civil Engineering | Recommendation rating: 0.0/10
>
> **Pros**: The only thing I liked which is not a big deal anyway, were published sheets and results in general.
>
> **Cons**: This software is the worst I have used so far, considering the amount of all other software I have tried during my work as a Structural Engineer. The User Experience is below zero, there are no words to describe how bad it is. Its like they have never thought about the user, but only about the results and the capacity of the software. In bullet points

- The software contains unusal commands that start with the combination of the Alt key instead of Ctrl like most software do

- The geometry and massing capabilities are quite bad, it seems like you can never get something at the right place, and you can never get a model without errors. Very bad snap tools, very poor on the responsive side of things.
>
> This software made me punch my computer many times, due to errors after errors even though I kept on zooming in 1000x trying to get all points right. I would never suggest this software to anyone, unless "Strusoft" (the developers) do some massive changes on their User Experience which is catastrophic at this stage. I have to suffer more with this software because my firm uses it, otherwise I would never pick this one instead of a CSI software, RSA or Tekla STD which are obviously 100x better.

Nonetheless, Strusoft has some other nice software on the other side, but with this one, in my opinion, they failed big time\!
