About Toast POS

Toast POS is a comprehensive point-of-sale system designed specifically for the restaurant industry. It is more than just a tool to accept payments; it is the central nervous system of a restaurant's operations, integrating a suite of functionalities to manage all aspects of the business. The system includes cloud-based software that allows restaurateurs to access their business data and operations from anywhere, at any time, ensuring they remain in control even when they are away from the establishment. With a focus on durability and aesthetics, Toast's hardware is restaurant-grade, built to withstand the rigors of the food service environment, including spills and high-temperature conditions. The hardware options such as Toast Flex and Toast Go are both spill-proof and dust-proof, blending functionality with design to complement the restaurant's décor while ensuring reliability. Toast's software platform prioritizes user-friendliness with an intuitive interface that simplifies training and daily operations. Employees can easily navigate the POS system, and management can implement menu changes across all devices instantaneously. The system regulates and tracks menu items through its inventory with real-time updates, minimizing the hassle of manual counts and avoiding customer dissatisfaction due to unavailable items. The integration capabilities of Toast POS are expansive, connecting with applications from various partners. This allows for a seamless operation that includes not just the point-of-sale but also extends to online ordering, marketing, and staff management. Its payment processing system boasts transparent pricing with no hidden fees, providing restaurant owners a reliable and straightforward pricing structure for transactions. Tableside ordering and payment functionalities are embodied within the platform, empowering staff to enhance guest experience through increased interaction and swift service. The Toast POS enables servers to process orders and payments right at the customer's table, which can help turn tables faster and increase the establishment's revenue. In addition to its operational capabilities, Toast POS provides analytical tools that give detailed insights into sales, product mix, and labor costs, allowing restaurant owners and managers to make informed decisions based on performance data. Whether one operates a single location or manages multiple establishments, the system's analytics and reporting features provide an integrated oversight that supports strategic planning and operational adjustments. To support its clients, Toast offers free 24/7/365 support, ensuring that restaurants can always access assistance when needed. Team members who understand both the platform and restaurant operations are on hand to offer help, ensuring that any issues are promptly resolved and minimizing the impact on the restaurant's service. For new restaurants, Toast POS offers starter kits that are customizable, providing a scalable solution to help these businesses grow. Outstanding POS Software

Pros

Very easy to use, awesome user interface, very helpful customer support. Toast POS is great in almost every way!

Cons

Constant updates can cause confusion when menus and their items randomly move around sometimes. Some processes are complicated and difficult to understand or remember.

Response from Toast

Thanks for the review!

Toast POS Review

Overall, I was happy with Toast. It was easy to use for the most part. There were some minor issues and some servers or bartenders did not like it. We did find that most had some previous experience with it so training was easy.

Pros

Toast was great! We used it in both our food truck and our brick and mortar. Having multiple screens was great and the convenience of the handhelds was great!

Cons

Their set up process is horrible. No support for the set up. Basically just have to find and then hire a guy to set it all up for you.

Alternatives Considered

Clover

Reasons for Switching to Toast POS

I went with Toast over Clover because I had several friends that were current Toast customers and they were very happy with it.

Response from Toast

Hello Christopher - Thank you for sharing your experience with Toast! We're thrilled to hear that the system worked well for both your food truck and brick-and-mortar locations, especially with the convenience of the handhelds and multiple screens.

Your feedback about the setup process is incredibly valuable, and we'll pass it along to ensure we can better support customers during implementation. It's great to know that training was straightforward due to familiarity among your staff.

We're glad Toast met your needs and appreciate you choosing us over Clover based on trusted recommendations from your friends!

Solid When it Works

I've used it in a few different kitchens to manage the menu and track sales. It works well for FoH, and is the bane of Chefs and Cooks alike. When it works, it's a digital alternative to paper tickets. Most people I know still prefer paper.

Pros

On the fly menu changes were accessible, the UI was fairly intuitive.

Cons

We always dread seeing an update. The product's stability is inconsistent.

Response from Toast

Hello Jordan - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We take all feedback seriously, and we appreciate your honest feedback!

Terrabile customer service

Not good, not a good experience with post purchase. They really sound great until you sign and then good luck.

Pros

Handheld and xtra chef are good products

Cons

There customer support is terrabile and if they approach you about payroll you better run.

Response from Toast

Hello Todd - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience wasn't up to your expectations. We take all feedback seriously, and we appreciate your honest feedback.

Over all a good decision

We are happy, server dig it and we are looking at otherways to see it. SOme of the features like event management or online ordering are too pricey for a small store.

Pros

Working with toast on the set up was great and easy. As we have grown their support has been solid. Not like other POS we have used in the past.

Cons

Reporting is eh and needs work...mostly data is there, just not obvious how to get what you need and they have to data dump and email it. Also, menus for serving customers can get a little much drilling sometimes 2-3 levels deep to do an 8 oz brown ale.

Alternatives Considered

Square Point of Sale and Clover

Reasons for Choosing Toast POS

It was too basic and lacking. Was good for a first year brewpub but as we grew, it did not.

Switched From

Lightspeed Restaurant

Reasons for Switching to Toast POS

Better support upfront making the decision, price was fair, and cc pro fees were good.,

Response from Toast

Hi Rob, thanks for sharing your experience using Toast.
