> TrustPrompt is a browser extension for Chrome and Edge designed to detect and redact personal data before prompts are sent to public large language models. It is intended for use in environments such as clinics, law firms, and regulated organizations where prompts may include sensitive information subject to data protection regulations.

The extension uses a dual detection system that combines checksum-validated regex rules with an on-device natural language recognition model. The regex rules identify structured data such as IBANs, payment cards, Spanish DNI/NIE identifiers, passports, API keys, and bearer tokens. The transformer model detects unstructured personal information, including names, addresses, organizations, and clinical attributes, across multiple entity types. Detection is performed entirely on the user's device using WebGPU acceleration or WASM fallback. The model and weights are included within the extension, and remote model loading is disabled.

TrustPrompt supports nine large language model platforms, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Mistral, Grok, DeepSeek, and OpenEvidence. Detected data is replaced with placeholders, such as \[FIRST\_NAME\_1\] or \[IBAN\_2\], before the message is sent, ensuring sensitive information is not shared with external models.

The extension uses a fail-closed architecture that prevents messages from being sent until detection and redaction are complete. It requires minimal permissions, including offscreen, storage, and activeTab access, and does not include telemetry, analytics, or error reporting. Enterprise deployments allow centralized policy management through tools such as Windows Group Policy, Microsoft Intune, or Jamf. Administrators can configure settings, define custom regex rules, and manage audit webhooks. Users can maintain a personal watchlist of terms, dismiss false positives through a preview panel, and reset the false-positive suppression model.

The extension supports multilingual detection across several languages, with active English and Spanish model variants.
