# flo2

> flo2 is a gateway, router, and proxy for large language models (LLMs). It sits between an application and multiple model providers, exposing them through one interface so that a single integration can reach many models. flo2 does not resell tokens: it operates on a bring-your-own-keys basis, using the provider keys supplied by the user, and it adds no markup to provider rates. Calls are passed directly to the underlying providers.

Access is handled through one API key that is compatible with both the OpenAI and Anthropic formats. From that key, requests can be directed to models across providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, Cerebras, DeepInfra, and Gemini. flo2 is drop-in compatible with the OpenAI Chat Completions, Responses, and legacy Completions endpoints and with the Anthropic Messages API, and it supports streaming responses. In most cases, moving an existing integration to flo2 involves changing only the base URL.

Several controls determine how requests are handled. Smart routing can set a default model, limit the selection to specific models, or open a broader set of models for selection. Fallback chains hold an ordered, reorderable list of models; if the primary model errors after a set number of retries, flo2 moves to the next model in the list automatically. Racing dispatches a request to multiple models at the same time and returns whichever response arrives first. A/B testing evaluates new models by running them in shadow alongside live traffic, with a judge model scoring which performs better.

For each request, flo2 captures usage metrics — token counts, throughput, and a computed cost — which can be reviewed by model and by provider to track spending and performance. Response caching is offered as an opt-in feature with a configurable time-to-live.

Data handling is restricted by default. flo2 records metadata such as tokens, latency, and cost, but does not store prompt or response content unless the user opts in to a feature that requires it. Because requests use the user's own provider keys, they are sent straight to the providers.

flo2 is aimed at teams operating LLM-based products in production, especially high-volume, infrastructure-heavy workloads where model cost, reliability, and data handling are priorities. The product is free during its Beta period.
